Get yer rubbers on!

In light of this awesome weather (in Canada, +5 degrees in early April is awesome)... I took the inspiration to get hopping on a few garden projects.

There's alway a lot to do around here, but hopefully this year, the changes we make will help Jumanji feel more manageable.  Again.  One plant at a time.  Jumanji was taking over when I moved in 5 years ago, and although I'm not as far ahead as I planned on being, we're getting there!

After spending a lovely weekend up North in Orillia w/ the Fam, we got back and I was struck with another nasty migraine.  Boo.  I didn't get anything done for the first few days this week, but luckily it was beautiful out tonight after work to do a bit of bustling about.

A couple of months ago, I had found some concrete blocks on the internet for 50¢ each.  Home Depot never seemed to have what we wanted, so I sent GW to grab 20 of these blocks from a Baptist with a fallout bunker.  Seriously.  We plan to use some of the blocks as the base of a bench, some as a retaining wall for a garden and some for holding up a rain barrel - yes more projects.

I've also started preparing the veggie garden excitement!

way to start them; too soggy.

Eek!  Day 7!!  Seriously!

And in doing all this, I couldn't help but start dreaming of the new plants that we'll buy to replace the ones that we're pulling out...

I'm sure I won't be able to find half of the beautiful plants on there... but it's nice to get some ideas in mind of what I want.  We already have succulents, but not the 'starfish' ones.  We also have daylilies and hostas... but again, not the ones in the photos.

I think, in a few years, we'll have the garden down to things that grow without much worry, stay where they're supposed to, and have a bit of interest to them too.
