Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day is many things to many people.  For me, it's about spending time with my Mum… and when us Ladies spend time together, we tend to get things done.  Hence the success of our Lady-Do Days!

Well, this year, I was lucky enough to get her as my sidekick from Saturday afternoon until early this afternoon.  Yay Us!  We got to catch up, have some good eats, jaunt around town, etc… and as it happens, get things done.  Not to say that GW and I aren't successful as well, but there's always an unspoken agreement with my Mum and I when we're doing a project.  We seem to think about the same next step at the same time and so one person ends up doing it while the other is taking the next step - does that make sense?

Anywho, thanks to my Mum, and a couple of hands from my Dad when he arrived today, I had a very productive weekend while GW was away.

Here are the snap shots of what Mother's Day looked like to us.  I forgot to take any photos of my Mum and I (doh!) or of us out at dinner, or enjoying brunch, or the burgers my Dad made on the bbq…

On Saturday, she helped me navigate the scary world of sewing machines; I can't wait to get down there and crack the box open.  I've got a huge list of things that need to be made and wI was waiting for a machine that didn't break needles on me.   We also puttered around the reuse centre and picked up a door at Habitat for Humanity ($10!!) for a future project of mine.

She also helped me battle the ducks in our pond.  The mallard pair is too close to making a nest to be allowed to stay here - I'd hate for them to attack Pokey!

Today, after brunch, we headed down to the Waugh Woodshop and got some work done on the new shoe rack for the sunroom.  I'm going to write a full post on it when it's actually done (although I didn't take any "in progress" photos).

When my Dad arrived, he brought some tools with him to help hang the map up, and then when the fourth coat of poly was 'dry', we installed the butcher block on the new hoosier (again, full post when I get there).

While my Dad bbq'd, my Mum helped me clean out the former pea garden and we put in some new soil and added the bean seeds.  We shall see!

All in all, it was a great day-or-so spent catching up, feeling productive, and collaborating on projects with my Mum.  Quality time I wouldn't trade for the world!

Happy Mother's Day!
