Only a note away

After these past few weeks, the Music Room is only a note away from being entirely done.  The last thing is to trim a french door to fit, which has to be done with a table saw that I don't own... hmmmm.

BUT, the latest development has been the baseboards on the panelled wall!  Yay!!!  Now the room looks done, even though it isn't in my mind ;)

Over the Christmas holiday I spent some time putting the baseboards back up.  It doesn't seem like a big deal, but they couldn't go back where they came from, as the wall dimensions were changed enough that I had to cut each piece to fit.  And sand them.  And putty and paint them.

At least they're done!  There was definitely too many hours spent sanding them down to fit properly, but what can you do.  At least they're all up and look good.  I delayed posting them as I wanted to have time to paint them nicely - no sense in showing them 'finished' if they aren't done, right?

Left side - inset electrical outlet side.... grr
Right side - hidden door side.... grr

Left side....
Right side.... Phew!
This was such a pain, but the baseboards
already had the holes...
so it made sense to keep it the same as
when I moved in.

Here they are!!!

Left side!
Right side (before 1/4 round and fresh paint)

Taaaaa Daaaaaa!!!!
I'm so happy with how it turned out that I could cry.

    1. Thanks K!!! We've got our seasonal pics up right now, so some music and art ones are missing, but it's a great way to put up lots to enjoy!

  2. You can just "push" the door to open, but how do you close it?.....BTW, i have an old bugle to contribute to your wall!

    1. We close it using one of the panels - it's raised out from the wall so kind of has a finger hold on it. And an old bugle!!? If it needs a new home, we'd be glad to give it a place to stay ;)

  3. Looks really good. Maybe for your next birthday you should ask for some power sanding tools that could help you out with future projects.

    1. Unfortunately... I have them already! I have two - a big rectangle one, and a little 'mouse' one. The mouse has proven itself so far - it's great! The other one is good too, but not as great at getting into corners. XO
